Trio Appassionato - Programme

A beautiful new work by Libby Croad, ‘Trio Appassionata’, forms the centrepiece of this recital, celebrating the music of female composers.

Clara Schumann - Piano Trio in G minor, op. 17
Libby Croad - Trio Appassionato (first performance)
Rebecca Clarke - Passacaglia on an Old English Tune
Morfydd Llwyn Owen - Four Welsh Impressions
Lili Boulanger – Nocturne - Cortège - D’un matin de printemps

These composers may not be nearly as famous as their male peers but I have discovered fantastic pieces written by them.
The programme is varied with some pieces joyous and exciting, others wildly passionate or simply beautiful.

I am most excited about playing the first performance of Trio Appassionata by Libby Croad, which I commissioned in 2019 but due to covid hasn’t been performed yet. It’s a lovely work for a trio with piano, violin and cello.

Libby writes really attractive music and is getting her works performed on BBC Radio 3, 4 and Classic FM. It always feels special to be the first to perform a work. For this recital I’m delighted to be joined by Marian Givens on violin and Bryony Moody on cello. Both have played at Winter Recitals in previous years.

Winter Recitals Wallingford 2022

A series of four concerts presented by Anita D'Attellis and Wallingford Parochial Church Council.
The proceeds of the 2022 series will be divided between two charities: St Mary’s and Sue Ryder.

All recitals start at 7:30pm; doors open at 7pm.

Due to Covid restrictions, tickets will be limited to 100 per concert. Please refer to the Covid-19 measures below.
Tickets cost £14; under-18s admitted free (but must have a ticket).
Tickets may also be available at the door before each concert (card payment preferred), until sold out.
Wine and soft drinks will be available before the recital and during the interval.
Covid-19
Concert arrangements will include appropriate measures to minimise the risk of Covid-19. St Mary's is a large, high space, and the doors will be open at the interval to assist ventilation. Seating will be arranged in groups (according to the number of people in each booking) with at least one metre social distancing, and will be allocated by the stewards. All audience members are asked to use the hand sanitiser provided and to wear facemasks at all times.
Ticket holders are kindly requested to take a lateral flow test prior to attending. They should not attend if they (or a member of their household) have any Covid symptoms, have a positive test result, or have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test-and-Trace.
If it should become necessary to alter the concert arrangements - especially if any new Covid restrictions apply - purchasers will be notified by email.
