Many thanks to the audience and volunteers who supported Winter Recitals 2026! It was a busy time, with 5 concerts over 5 successive weekends, and I'm delighted that £4,500 was donated, split between the church and Sue Ryder.
There were 4 professional evening recitals, and one shorter Sunday afternoon recital, showcasing a talented young cellist. Please browse the programmes below.

Transcribed Masterworks:
Bach, Brahms and Franck
These masterpieces, originally composed for violin, cello, viola, or clarinet, sound truly impressive when arranged for saxophone. Award-winning musician Huw Wiggin makes a welcome return to Winter Recitals, and will perform on alto and tenor saxophone.
Bach - Cello Suite no.2 in D minor
Brahms - Sonata for clarinet (or viola) and piano, op.120, no.2
Franck - Sonata for violin (or cello) and piano in A major
Huw Wiggin - saxophone
Anita D’Attellis - piano

Piano Quartets
Beethoven’s op.16 was originally conceived as a Quintet for Piano and Winds (oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon) but the composer later revised it as a Quartet, cleverly adapting it for violin, viola and cello with piano.
The Piano Quartet by Mahler is an astonishing work he composed at the tender age of 16. Sadly, only one movement survives.

Mahler - Piano Quartet in A minor
Mozart - Piano Quartet no.1 in G minor, K.478
Peter Davis - violin
Giles Wade - viola
Leandro Silvera - cello

Winter Recitals Wallingford (WRW) is a chamber music series created by Anita in 2018. She programmes and performs a wide variety of music, mixing rarely-heard ‘hidden gems’ with familiar works. WRW is a non-profit organisation which has donated £27,000 to charitable causes.
The proceeds of WRW26 were donated to St. Mary's Eco Heating Appeal (the venue of the recitals) and Sue Ryder (South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub).
Thank you for supporting Winter Recitals!
