Transcribed Masterworks:
Bach, Brahms and Franck
These masterpieces, originally composed for violin, cello, viola, or clarinet, sound truly impressive when arranged for saxophone. Award-winning musician Huw Wiggin makes a welcome return to Winter Recitals, and will perform on alto and tenor saxophone.
Bach - Cello Suite no.2 in D minor
Brahms - Sonata for clarinet (or viola) and piano, op.120, no.2
Franck - Sonata for violin (or cello) and piano in A major
Huw Wiggin - saxophone

Piano Quartets
Beethoven’s op.16 was originally conceived as a Quintet for Piano and Winds (oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon) but the composer later revised it as a Quartet, cleverly adapting it for violin, viola and cello with piano.
The Piano Quartet by Mahler is an astonishing work he composed at the tender age of 16. Sadly, only one movement survives.

Mozart - Piano Quartet no.1 in G minor, K.478
Peter Davis - violin

Winter Recitals Wallingford (WRW) is a chamber music series created by Anita in 2018. She programmes and performs a wide variety of music, mixing rarely-heard ‘hidden gems’ with familiar works. WRW is a not-for-profit organisation which has raised over £22,000 for charitable causes.
The proceeds of WRW26 will be donated to St. Mary's Eco Heating Appeal (the venue) and Sue Ryder (South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub).
